Good morning 👋 to everyone who’s ever asked ChatGPT how to reply to an email. If you’re someone who regularly outsources life’s everyday decisions to AI, there’s now an official term for you. You’re a “slopper.” But don’t worry if that doesn’t feel quite right – other contenders include “botlicker” and my personal favorite, “second-hand thinker.” The debate’s ongoing, so feel free to ask ChatGPT which one suits you best.

🤔 Deep thought: Could self-driving cars someday make stoplights obsolete?

✅ Bots are outsmarting CAPTCHAs. OpenAI’s new agent just sailed through Cloudflare’s human verification test without breaking a sweat. Even better, the bot politely narrated every step, explaining it had to click the checkbox to prove it wasn’t, you know, a bot. At this rate, we’ll need retina scans just to prove we’re human.

✍️ Microsoft is racing to renegotiate its worst AGI deal ever. They want long-term access to OpenAI’s tech, even after OpenAI declares it has achieved AGI. Without a new agreement, Microsoft risks instantly losing billions of dollars invested and critical technology powering Azure and Copilot. If OpenAI signs on, they’re cashing out their credibility, their mission, and control over AGI.

💦 Big Tech wants to ease up on Clean Water Act rules. Right now, you need a 404 permit to build a data center. Tech giants say this slows them down – but environmental lawyers aren’t buying it. They warn relaxed rules could let companies pave over wetlands. Exhibit A: Amazon’s controversial Indiana project, which plans to fill in nearly 10 acres and plow through 5,000 streams. Seems like a reasonable price to “usher in a new golden age of human flourishing.”

🤬 Elon Musk is complaining about too many satellites. He just whined to the FCC that competitor AST SpaceMobile is cluttering space and causing collision risks. Pretty rich coming from the guy whose company controls 60% of all active satellites currently in orbit. Wait until Bezos launches AmazonBasics satellites… then Musk will really complain about sharing.

🔋 Sick of hearing about data centers burning fossil fuels for AI? Here’s some good news. A Texas startup figured out how to store renewable energy underground by pumping water into rock formations, holding it under pressure, and then releasing it later to generate electricity. It’s basically like turning the Earth into a giant rechargeable battery, able to store clean energy for six months at a time. Take that, fossil fuels.

🍿 Your next IMAX experience might be AI generated. Finalists from Runway’s 2025 AI Film Festival will soon debut at IMAX theaters in 10 major cities. The lineup features surreal stories, including chickens trapped in human prisons and transhumans running into lost souls in space. Grab your popcorn, indie filmmakers are stealing the spotlight.
