Good morning 👋 and congrats to humanity for finally solving the whole death thing, at least for comic book legends. Break out your spandex, because Marvel icon Stan Lee is now making Comic Con appearances as an AI-powered hologram. Fans at LA Comic Con can snap selfies and chat with digital Stan for just $20, proving once and for all that the multiverse is weird as hell.

🔮 Cathie Wood predicts only two AI giants will survive the coming shakeout. Right now, OpenAI, Anthropic, Elon Musk’s xAI, and Google’s Gemini are battling fiercely for dominance. Massive acquisitions and talent grabs are already shrinking the field. Wood says consolidation has started and it’s far from finished. Soon, just two players could control the entire AI race.

🧪 AI chatbots are quoting fake science. MIT researchers discovered bots confidently citing scientific papers that were literally thrown out for fraud and junk data. Why? Publishers rarely flag when studies get retracted, so bots have no idea they’re spreading garbage. Now we’ve got AI handing out medical advice based on debunked studies. Apparently misinformation found its killer app.

🔥 Sam Altman plans a factory that pumps out a gigawatt of AI capacity every week. Let’s put that in perspective. Each gigawatt currently costs around $50B, with $35B going straight to Nvidia’s every single week. Utilities are panicking too, racing to build 70% more gas plants over just the next two years, just to keep up. Meanwhile Bain & Co warns there’s an $800 billion funding gap. On one hand, you gotta admire Sam’s bold vision; on the other, you have to wonder if he plans to set the planet on fire first.

☢️ Small nuclear reactors won’t save AI. They’re hyped as the perfect clean-energy fix, but there’s one small problem. They don’t exist. Not one commercial SMR is online. Costs have ballooned past $9,000 per kilowatt, and flagship projects keep getting canceled. Even the most optimistic timelines push deployments into the mid-2030s. By then, cheaper, faster, proven renewables will already be running the show. Betting on nuclear unicorns might sound visionary, but it won’t keep the lights on.

🐼 Wan 2.2 Animate videos are breaking the internet. Alibaba’s new open-source model just dropped and already outperforms expensive commercial systems from Runway and ByteDance. Users are going viral by effortlessly transforming a single still image into anyone or anything they want. Celebrities, influencers, even animated characters are fair game. Real-time AI video impersonation just went mainstream. Now you can literally be whoever – or whatever – you want.

💦 Good news, planet Earth! Lambda just launched the world’s first hydrogen-powered AI data center. Their new NVIDIA-powered servers in Mountain View run entirely on hydrogen fuel cells, delivering massive AI horsepower with zero emissions and zero wasted water. Each 142 kW system easily handles the heavy lifting for foundational model training without the usual climate guilt. Maybe powering the AI boom doesn’t have to melt the planet after all.
